What if my school has “positive” Covid-19 cases?
If you attend a school that has had any teachers, parents or students test positive to Covid-19 and you have an appointment scheduled in the next 2 weeks, we will be unable to see you, unless you have proof that you have received the “all clear” from either your school, Bendigo Health or the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). They will let you know whether you are OK to visit us or whether you need to self isolate and follow their instructions.
Please call us as soon as possible to clarify your status and reschedule your appointment if necessary.
I live in Melbourne. Can I come to Bee Happy for my appointment?
If you live in Melbourne, you are now obliged to adhere to the Stage 4 restrictions as outlined by the Government.
If you have an appointment scheduled during this period, we cannot see you. You will need to reschedule this appointment to after the 6 week period. Our staff will contact you to reschedule, or please feel free to call our office on 5442 5100 to clarify the situation with your appointments, and reschedule if necessary.
If you are in pain or have a broken appliance we will first see if we could organise for you to be seen by an orthodontist or dentist closer to you in Melbourne.
My parents place of employment has had staff test “positive” to Covid-19
If your parents’ place of employment has had any staff test “positive”, such as the recent outbreaks at KR Castlemaine and Hazeldenes in Lockwood, your appointment will need to be rescheduled, unless your parents have received clearance from DHHS or Bendigo Health.
Are you still open?
We are currently open for routine orthodontic treatment with strict Covid-19 protocols in place.
Current conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic are very unsettling for everyone. The situation and restrictions are very fluid and changing nearly every day.
We constantly check on updates from DHHS, the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Orthodontists and will try to keep you informed of any changes to our operating guidelines.
If you have any queries, please feel free to call us on 5442 5100 or check our website and Facebook page for any changes to our hours and restrictions.
For further information on current restrictions, please visit the Department of Health and Human Services website.

A Message on our ‘Patient Only’ policy
We very much appreciate the frustration parents and carers are feeling at the moment about not being allowed to attend the surgery with their children for routine orthodontic visits. Unfortunately, in these extraordinary times, we have to take every practical measure to limit the risk of community transmission of Covid-19.
Some dental procedures can pose a very high risk for cross infection of this particular pathogen. For that reason, it is imperative that we minimise the number of people entering the premises.
We see a much greater number of patients per day than a general dental practice. Allowing a parent or carer to accompany each patient to every routine appointment would increase the number of people in the building, at any one time, beyond what could be safely managed. Regrettably, this means we have to restrict parent/carer attendance to occasions where the clinician feels it necessary to have a face to face discussion in the surgery, or in the case of diagnosed medical or social condition that may require the child to have a parent/carer present. If this is the case for your child, please call reception to confirm, so that the person at the door is aware that you will be attending the appointment.
If you do have any questions or concerns about your child’s treatment at any time, please leave a message with our reception and either Dr. Jayasekera, Dr. Sokel, or one of the clinical staff will call you back.
